La Chambre
We wish you a Happy Bastille Day 2020!
Today is France National day, which commemorates the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress on July 14, 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution. Every year, a large Bastille Day event is organized by the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the French Embassy to celebrate in a festive mood, the French “Art de Vivre” along with the friendship in between France and Korea.
But this year tells a different story. Considering the Covid-19 Crisis, the Korean Government guidelines, the respect for all person who did suffer or who are still suffering from this pandemic, the FKCCI board has decided to cancel, with regrets, this year traditional event in Korea.
During this crisis, the Korea French relationship has been reinforced by many actions or exchanges. The FKCCI for example, did set up a platform of sanitary suppliers for all entities in need. The FKCCI has been, as well, very active in organizing large webinars in cooperation with the Korean and French authorities, re-known speakers as relevant members, generating a lot of interest with more than 5000 views. Our next webinar will be held this coming Thursday, July 16 and will focus on international cooperation in the health industries.
In September, our chamber will restart its activities on our regular basis, if of course the sanitary situation allow it. We will organize in September our traditional economic forum and the French Business award ceremony. Then in October will take place the newcomers Seminar, in November the Career Forum, in December our Gala and many others. Be sure that it will be for the FKCCI board, team and myself a real pleasure to finally meet you, all again, live.
Thanks to its good crisis management, the image of Korea has been enhanced. We believe that there is an historical chance for the country to take a stronger role in the post-Covid 19 world leadership, along with France and other countries who share the same values of multilateralism, democracy and welfare for all. Our two countries will re-launch their economy with the same approach based on a new deal in the fields of Digital, Green and Bio pharma, which can open potentially many cooperation between us. So there is matter of hope and opportunity!
Days of celebration will come back! But for today, even though we can’t meet, may the spirit of the Bastille Day give you faith in the future!
