Candidate for Mayor of Gangnam-gu, Dae Nam KIM visits FKCCI
On April 11, candidate for Mayor of Gangnam-gu, Mr. Dae Nam KIM, visited FKCCI premises to discuss economic and cultural exchanges between Gangnam and France.
Gangnam is concentrated with start-up support institutions such as TIPS TOWN of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Naver D2’s Startup Factory, and the DCAMP of the Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs. For France, Station F, the world’s largest start-up incubator for fostering startups, is located in Paris.
Mr. KIM announced plans to create a global startup hub based on the 4th industry in Gangnam in order to revitalize Korea-French startup exchanges. From a simple office space, there will also be a complex space where young people can do creative tasks such as concerts and performances along with their work and a residence space for businessmen visiting from abroad.
FKCCI also expanded and relocated its new office in Gangnam in early 2020 to welcome and support more French companies to start their business in Korea. In order to meet various needs of companies, FKCCI Business Center provides rental services that include meeting rooms, studios, and office spaces. Mr. KIM had the chance to visit FKCCI’s Business Center and meet with various French start-up companies during his visit.
Furthermore, Gangnam is renowned for its cosmetics, luxury fashion, and entertainment business. Gangnam is considered to be the center of Hallyu, as it is easy to find streets full of luxury brands and K-Pop entertainment agencies such as SM Town and the former agency of BTS. Major French luxury brands implanted their flagship stores in the district which offers a favorable environment to showcase French know-hows and excellence.
