L'Orchestre de l'Opéra Royal de Versailles to perform for the first time in Korea

Château de Versailles Spectacles - L'Orchestre de l'Opéra Royal

The Orchestre de l'Opéra Royal of Versailles, which regularly performs as a part of the Chateau de Versailles Spectacles at the Royal Opera Theater in France’s Palace of Versailles, holds its first concert in South Korea, organized by MAGE Production, one of FKCCI's members, a performing arts planning agency.

Founded in 1770 and composed of internationally renowned artists, the orchestra invites audiences to enjoy the music of the era of Louis XIV. During the concert, perform three countertenors Samuel Marino, Hugh Cutting and Jung Si-man, who are constantly attracting attention in the classical and baroque music world.

Stefan Plewniak will be conducting the three countertenors, which refers to the male vocalists who can also sing in female vocal range, who will be taking the stage together to demonstrate the epitome of a Baroque opera.

Simon Chung, the winner of the Tenor Vinas Contest at the Vinas International Singing Competition held in Spain, will be singing along with Samuel Marino from Venezuela and Hugh Cutting from England. The three countertenors will sing opera songs of the representative Baroque composers such as Handel, Vivaldi, and Porpora.

The time-honored orchestra holds its concert, titled “3 Counter-tenors Concert,” and met thier Korean audiences in Gunpo, Andong, and Seoul and continues through Daejeon (March 1) and Jeju (March 4).
