FKCCI’s Gala 2022 invites 800 guests to a memorable night celebrating the beautiful Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region
Relive FKCCI’s unforgettable Gala 2022, held on November 11th in the heart of Seoul.
Famous adage ‘out of sight, out of mind’ was proven wrong on the night of the French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s dazzling Gala 2022!
Though not held during the two previous years because of the pandemic, the Chamber’s Gala received an enthusiastic response from the French-Korean and European-Korean business communities, and gathered more than 800 distinguished guests at The Shilla Seoul on November 11th, 2022. Among participants were S.E. Philippe Lefort, French Ambassador to Korea; S.E. Maria Castillo-Fernandez, EU Ambassador to Korea; Walter Cho, Chairman of Hanjin and Korean Air; and Kyung-Shik Sohn, CJ Group’s Chairman. Partners of FKCCI were no less prestigious, as the Chamber could count on the support of more than 30 major French and Korean companies, such as Air France, Accor Group, Bluebell, BNP Paribas, CA CIB, L’Oréal, and Société Générale.
Hosted by famous French media personalities Ida Daussy and Fabien Yoon, and held under the theme “Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: Land of Serenity”, the Gala 2022 celebrated the beauty and uniqueness of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (AuRA), France’s South-East region. One of the country and Europe’s largest and most attractive regions, AuRA ranks second in the Hexagon in terms of inhabitants (8 million), GDP (283 bn EUR), and innovation (7.1 bn EUR yearly spending in R&D). Home to world-renowned chefs (Paul Bocuse, Anne-Sophie Pic…) and prominent personalities, AuRA also possesses one of France’s richest culinary traditions, a stellar reputation in a wide range of arts, and a fascinating history illustrated by each of its numerous monuments.

“I am proud to support this visit […] to reinforce our partnerships with South Korea. This Gala is the occasion to put in the spotlight the know-hows and richness of our region, with its natural landscapes, its gastronomy, its wineries, and of course, its musical tradition”, said Laurent Wauquiez, President of AuRA regional council, in a video message addressed to the guests.
“This region inspires us through its historical and cultural heritage, its breathtaking nature, and its biodiversity, but also its economic dynamism and its openness to the world. FKCCI’s Gala is harmoniously celebrating this vision tonight”, added David-Pierre Jalicon, FKCCI Chairman, in his opening speech.
Within the event hall, fabulously decorated for the occasion to highlight AuRA’s beautiful natural and monumental heritage, guests were provided with a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover the regions’ wonders with a mouth-watering menu based on local delicacies, a high-end fashion show by the internationally famous French-Korean designer HEILL, and an exquisite performance from the world-renowned Auvergne National Orchestra, whose 21 exceptional string players and brilliant conductor, Thomas Zehetmair, interpreted some of Maurice Ravel’s and Johannes Brahms’s repertoires’ finest pieces in front of an enthralled audience.

To end the Gala and its whirlwind of emotions on a high note, FKCCI’s traditional Lucky Draw was held with prizes never-seen-before, sometimes amounting several million wons – business class plane tickets, stays at prestigious hotels, VIP shopping experiences, luxury cosmetic products baskets… –, and guests were invited to share one last convivial moment together before heading home starry-eyed.
