FKCCI welcomes former President Mr. François Hollande for an exceptional dinner
In the context of Tech4Good Tour, FKCCI discussed international challenges during an exclusive reception with former President Mr. François Hollande.
On September 19th, 2022, FKCCI was honored to welcome Mr. François Hollande, former President of the French Republic, for an exclusive dinner. Held at Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun in the context of Tech4Good Tour 2022, the event gathered 70 members of the French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry and of the French Tech4Good startup delegation.
After having exchanged a few words with guests over a cocktail, the President took the floor to commend FKCCI’s tremendous growth and great success, as well as the growing French presence in the Korean Peninsula:
“It is impressive to see that [the Chamber] has gained so many new members since my last visit in 2019. It means that despite COVID, French companies demonstrate a will to invest and build partnerships in Korea, and to look at what is being done in this country, especially in the digital field.”
The President however underlined that the French Korean friendship had not yet reached its full potential:
“Our presence in Korea is still far from what could be expected of a country of France’s magnitude. We need to reinforce our presence [here]."
He reminded the audience of Europe and Korea’s shared ideal of democracy, a crucial common point at a time when the international community faces numerous challenges – the Russo-Ukrainian conflict and rampant inflation especially:
“We are witnessing the appearance of a new world order. Europe and Korea, which share common interests and values, need to maintain high levels of bilateral trade, […] to promote the industries of the future […], to ensure their safety […], and to maintain a certain degree of autonomy amidst the US and China’s confrontation.”
Through the Q&A session that followed, guests could ask follow-up questions to Mr. Hollande. The event also provided them with a unique opportunity to network over the refined dinner served afterwards.
