EDF Renewables Korea - Onshore Civil Engineer

Job Description

The Onshore Civil Engineer functionally reports to Technical Director, and operationally to Senior Engineering Manager in the EDF-R Korea office. He/She will support the successful business development and delivery of offshore wind development projects by supporting the Onshore Package Engineering and various permitting processes required at the business development stage.

The Onshore Civil Engineer will be responsible for the management of safe and high-quality engineering and design related to the onshore package (covering all works and activities from landfall to point of interconnection to KEPCo’s existing substation, including onshore export cable and onshore substation) in relation to the civil/geotechnical/electrical aspects and within budget and on time.

 

Nature and Scope

The successful candidate will be an experienced Onshore Civil Engineer in carrying out Onshore Landfall/Transmission Line/Substations related pre-FEED or FEED, Occupation of Road-Use-Permit obtaining process within the Offshore Wind development projects or any similar/equivalent and above experience.

The candidate will be working on the development and execution phases related to the onshore civil package in close cooperation/coordination with

EXTERNAL Stakeholders: Engineering and EPCI contractors and consultants and also with;

INTERNAL EDF R departments by reviewing and evaluating the design deliverables, and actively leading onshore landfall/transmission route study and activities, any further studies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate intelligence, sound judgment, common sense, and a mature outlook, be highly motivated, and have a versatile personality and excellent interpersonal skills. Projects may be located throughout South Korea, which may require short stays away from the office. Business trips worldwide may occasionally be requested.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the onshore civil engineering and design development for all aspects related to the Onshore Package ensuring compliance with project requirements and on time delivery of design scopes (Site visits are included)
  • Responsible for the identification of applicable specifications, local standards and etc in relation to the Onshore Package
  • Responsible for technical review and approval on the onshore civil engineering deliverables (e.g. design basis, reports, procedures, drawings, etc.) including technical discussions with stakeholders in terms of the various civil works (engineering contractor, EPC contractor, Work Package contractors, OE, Consultant, etc.)
  • Responsible for controlling and monitoring progress and quality of civil works on sites and associated studies per EDF Renewables HSSE policy, contract, and local regulations across the sites
  • Responsible for technical review and coordination on the civil/geotechnical and electrical design to be considered in the onshore package.
  • Responsible for investigating the marshalling port and O&M ports opportunities to EDF Renewables by reviewing all civil/geotechnical technical aspects/constraints and liaising with relevant internal departments (site visits are required)
  • Support the tendering process for Onshore Package from a technical (primary) and local permitting (if applicable) perspective including ITT preparation, specification preparations, bid evaluations and selection
  • On-site survey management and liaison with Contractors and/or Consultants as instructed
  • Providing technical input and support to the EIA and any Onshore Package related permits/licences with a close coordination and cooperation with EXTERNAL Stakeholders and INTERNAL EDF R departments;
  • Assist in identifying onshore permitting requirements and setting up execution strategies;
  • Day-to-day administrative support, tracking and reporting;
  • Maintain an organized record of all onshore package documents, ensuring proper filing

 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Minimum 5-10 years relevant professional experience in Onshore and proven track records in civil engineering with supervision works in on/offshore windfarm projects
  • Solid understanding of civil, geotechnical engineering and the ability to convey this knowledge to others both internally and externally. Fair understanding of electrical aspects that are required to carry out the onshore package work is also preferred.
  • Relevant industry experience in the design, permitting support, stakeholder management support that are relevant to the onshore package within the offshore wind projects
  • Knowledge of prevailing Korean civil standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all operational levels of the organization as well as with contractors
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in Korean and English
  • Experience in reviewing and validating technical reports and proposals
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with other disciplines
