Lotte Energy Materials Makes Strategic Investment in French EV Battery Startup

On July 16, Lotte Energy Materials announced its equity investment agreement with Enwires, a French startup specializing in silicon anodes for batteries.

Lotte Energy Materials will contribute KRW 7.9 Bn (USD 6.2 M) for the operation of a demonstration plant, obtaining an equity stake in Enwires. This investment marks Lotte Energy Materials' entry into the next-generation silicon anode market.

Enwires, founded in 2016, possesses unique technology related to silicon composites, a next-generation anode material. By utilizing existing graphite as a raw material, their technology enhances driving range and reduces charging time through high energy density. Currently, Enwires operates a pilot line with an annual production capacity of 2.5 tons and plans to expand to commercial-scale production by 2027.

Through this equity investment, Lotte Energy Materials aims to achieve mass production of high-performance silicon anodes through collaborative development of silicon composite materials (Si-C series) with Enwires.
