The French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) and the French Embassy in South Korea, in collaboration with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), French Tech Seoul, and the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Paris IdF), successfully organized the Forum Emploi 2024, a career forum that took place at the prestigious KCCI Grand Hall on May 31st.

With a turnout of 600 visitors and 29 exhibiting companies, the Forum Emploi was a vibrant gathering, offering a unique platform for Korean students specializing in French studies, professionals with proficiency in French, and young professionals keen on exploring career opportunities in Korea. Attendees enjoyed networking opportunities with recruiters, practical workshops designed to enhance their skill sets, and engaging sessions led by industry leaders. The forum started with an opening ceremony presided over by H.E. Philippe BERTOUX, French Ambassador to Korea, Mr. David-Pierre JALICON, FKCCI Chairman and Mr. Seongwoo LEE, KCCI Vice-President. This was followed by a Recruitment Round Table hosted by Accor Ambassador Korea, Kyobo AXA IM, L’Oréal Korea and Luxury Business Group. In the afternoon, several workshops on ‘How to Craft the Perfect CV,’ ‘How to Succeed in Your Job Interview,’ and ‘How to Have a Successful First Day at Work’ were also held to provide practical advice to young professionals.

In a bid to connect companies with top Francophone talents, the event featured booths where employers could interact with potential candidates. Companies eager to recruit skilled French-speaking professionals in South Korea had the opportunity to speed-meet with a lot of different professionals during the afternoon, as well as benefit from tailored talent matchmaking services to streamline their recruitment process.

This event took place at an opportune moment as the current job market witnesses the emergence of favorable hiring trends for French-speakers. In addition to the 240 French businesses over the peninsula and the 5,000 French companies exporting in Korea every year, generating more than 26,000 jobs locally, an increasing number of Korean and international companies are actively seeking French-speaking professionals in Korea. With French being the 5th most spoken language in the world, businesses with branches or facilities in Europe and Canada are seeking multilingual talents who can facilitate their global expansion efforts, and effectively bridge the gaps between local and international offices.

The FKCCI thanks all the French and Korean professionals who attended the Forum, as well as the 29 companies that presented and engaged with participants at their booths throughout the day: Asiance, Bridor, CMA CGM, CA CIB, Danim Group, France Gourmet, Geodis, It-Concept, Kyobo AXA IM, L’Oréal Korea, Luxury Business Group, Mazars Korea, On The List, Orano, Robert Walters, Solvist Worldwide, S-Oil Total Energies, SK geo centric, Veolia, and Accor Ambassador Korea (Ambasstel Inc., Ibis Styles Ambassador Incheon Airport, Hotel Naru Seoul - MGallery, Seoul Dragon City, Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, The Ambassador Seoul - A Pullman Hotel, Sofitel Ambassador Seoul). Special thanks to Cafés Richard and JCDecaux, our sponsors, whose support made the event possible.
