FKCCI celebrates its 400th member!
This is a milestone in the history of the French-Korean business community. In April 2021, FKCCI welcomed its 400th member!
A little bit of history….
For 35 years, French and Korean companies have trusted the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) to make meaningful business connections and get access to a powerful network to support their business.
It all started in June 1986 when about 20 French entrepreneurs got together to establish the “French Business Association in Korea”. The association grew quickly as more French companies entered the thriving Korean market that was opening itself to the world. From 20 members in 1986, it increased to 90 members in 1991 as membership opened to Korean companies. Thanks to many M&As and the openness of the market, the number of members reached 200 in 2011. The EU-Korea FTA was another booster to finally being able today to double in 10 years our community with 400 members and 40% of Korean members, which makes us more and more a bilateral Chamber. This growth despite the COVID-19 crisis shows that FKCCI could adapt to those new circumstances and that its network remains resilient in face of adversity.
What does it mean to be a FKCCI Member today?
There is at least one positive outcome of the recent crisis: it showed how meaningful such business network can be. The more FKCCI members are joining, the stronger we are in advocating for their business interest. That is why we collectively recorded improvements for example to ease Korean visa issuance for residents in France or to remove mandatory test campaign for foreigners in Seoul.
Beyond representation and advocacy, the more powerful our network is, the more we can provide the right expertise and networking opportunities through a rich program of tailored events and sectoral committees such as our recent Economic Forecast held in March or the upcoming Tech4Good online Summit in May. Since early 2020, we constantly made efforts to answer members’ needs by providing new event formats such as webinars, hybrid events or small-scale networking “Meet & Connect” adapted to constantly changing sanitary conditions.
In a similar fashion, we launched new remote services such as an online HR matchmaking platform to facilitate recruiting, a direct chatting channel on Kakao dubbed “Ask & Share” to directly share practical information, or a daily press review to provide insights on French and Korean markets.
FKCCI bicultural team is also constantly committed to provide a tailored support according to each members’ specific needs!
In short, being a member means joining a dynamic professional network, having access to exclusive events and offers, sharing and getting useful expertise, increasing your notoriety, defending your interests, and getting supported by a competent multicultural team.
